Repair Process
At Beach Collision LLC a Land Rover Approved body shop and collision repair center the repair process begins after all authorizations have been received by the required parties enabling Beach Collision LLC to being work. The first step is a vehicle pre-wash, additional photography and directing the vehicle to correct work bay based on small, medium or heavy structural damage.
Prior to any work being done on any vehicle, your Land Rover is first "code scanned" to discover any error messages being stored or displayed by your vehicle main computer (ECU). These errors code may originate from a number of sensor through out the vehicle and may present more insight as to what other areas are affected by the accident / collision.
As a part of the initial vehicle check in documentation process, we at Beach Collision LLC the certified Land Rover body shop / collision repair center for south western Los Angeles County and Orange County California for Cerritos Land Rover, we measuring paint thickness coatings in specific areas around the vehicle. This either confirms a Land Rover factory original finish is still present or alerts us to prior repairs that were performed. It will also alert us if the vehicle has been excessively polished which means your Land Rover's protective clear coat is severely thin and likely to fail.
Small damage such as small dents or damage on bolt on parts where the damage has not transferred any energy or force from the incident to structural components is here in referred to as "small damage." This repair process will be directed to our fast track repair station.
Medium damage can be described in summary as a combination of small damage in addition to an attached panel of the vehicle that has not intrusively transferred any of the energy of the damage to a structural component of the vehicle (vehicle structure = any panel that is welded, riveted or bonded). This type of repair in some cases will required the use of a Frame machine for confirmation of no damage transferred to the structure of the vehicle in combination of use of one of our 3D measuring systems.
Structural damage is defined in simple terms as a core element of the vehicle's chassis that is typically not a bolt on part that has sustained damage. Some casually refer to this a frame damage or chassis damage. This type of damage requires in most cases a multi step removal process of the damaged parts, components and elements then followed up with the reinstallation of the mirror matched replacement parts. The reassembly process may involve one or more steps for preparation then joining them with technologies such as riveting, bonding or welding. All of these processes must be done on one of our "frame machines" such as our Car Bench system that includes vehicle specific setup of fixtures as control points for areas determined by Land Rover as critical data points. New parts are mounted to this fixture and align them to your Land Rover within the millimeter. After this stage of repair your Land Rover be it a Range Rover, Defender, Velar, or Evoke is then moved to the paint department of Beach Collision LLC as the Land Rover Approved Body Shop.

Paint Process begins with an inspection of all repaired areas confirming the "straightness" of panels and the transition from repaired areas to the original surfaces of your Land Rover. Next is the pre cleaning then follow up with a priming or sealing coat. After this phase a sanding of the newly coated surfaces post curing process takes place. This insures true body lines, original contours and seamless transfers from repaired areas to factory original surfaces. Once this process is complete the surfaces are then cleaned again for the two or three stage paint process. All of the coating processes are done in side of our state of the art down draft paint spray booth that control air flow around the vehicle while filtering the climate controlled air to replicate the Land Rover factory like finish of your vehicle. Upon completion, the spray booth prompted by the certified paint technician will enter the curing / drying cycle.
Post drying cycle, your Land Rover is then moved out of the paint station so that all of the masking materials that were used to protect your vehicle from overspray. Following up with the minor sanding of the clear coat to achieve a uniform finish with sand paper rated up to 4,000 grit (super ultra fine) we're then able to use a jewelry like polish to provide you an exceptionally brilliant reflective painted surface.
